Key Responsibilities
– Assist the Chief System Engineer in managing the design, development, and testing of the MOSAIC instrument.
– Contribute to the translation of scientific requirements into technical specifications and ensure alignment with project goals.
– Supervise the development process, from concept to fabrication, ensuring the highest standards of performance, cost efficiency, and timelines.
– Engage with engineers and scientists to solve technical challenges and propose innovative solutions.
– Foster collaboration across the project team, maintaining strong communication and project coordination.
– Represent the project in international collaborations, with potential short-term travel in Europe.
Qualifications:
– Engineering degree in optics, physics, or a related field, with relevant experience in instrumentation, or Physic degree
– Understanding of system engineering
– Knowledge of optical instrumentation, particularly in the context of astronomy or spectrography.
– Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work in an international environment.
– Proficiency in both English (B2 level).
Work Environment
Based at the Meudon site of the Paris Observatory, surrounded by a beautiful 65-hectare park, you’ll have the chance to work on an ambitious astronomical projects. The position offers flexibility with partial remote work, professional development opportunities, and a highly collaborative work environment.
Contract: 1 year, renewable.
Work Schedule: 37h35 per week, with 46 vacation days annually.
