Virgo 101 : Low-mass stellar systems in the Virgo cluster across seven decades in mass

Ruben Sanchez-Janssen

The Next Generation Virgo Cluster Survey (NGVS) has imaged the iconic cluster out to its virial radius in visible and near-infrared wavelengths with unprecedented sensitivity and resolution. This has enabled detailed studies of the galaxy and star cluster populations down to mass scales only previously probed in the Local Group, but with significantly larger statistical power. In this talk I will summarise the main findings of the NGVS in regards to the properties of cluster dwarf galaxies, globular and nuclear star clusters, and the intriguing ultra-compact dwarfs that bridge the gap between these two families of low-mass stellar systems.
