How environment affects galaxy colour : the role of stellar mass

Olga Cucciati (Osservatorio Astronomico di Trieste)

Jour et heure inhabituels !

It is well known that galaxy properties correlate with the local
environment in which galaxies reside, and this seems to hold at least
up to z≈1. In contrast, it is still matter of debate why and when
these environmental dependences originate, and whether the stellar
mass is the only driver of these dependences, as galaxy properties
depend on stellar mass, and stellar mass in turn depends on
environment. In this context, I will present some results about the
role played by stellar mass in the colour-density relation, as found
in large and deep redshift surveys such as VVDS, zCOSMOS and DEEP2.
