Dwarf galaxy evolution : clues from nearby groups

Sofia Lianou

As the most numerous type of galaxies, dwarf galaxies hold important clues to galaxy formation and evolution processes. They usually reside around larger galaxies in group or cluster environments. Hence, the evolution of dwarf galaxies is influenced by the environment they reside in, as well as by internal processes. I will focus on the star formation and interstellar medium properties of dwarf galaxies in nearby groups of galaxies, for which insights are gained utilizing a multi-wavelength approach and in particular Herschel and Hubble Space Telescope observations.
